How to Schedule Your In-Person Audition Appointment

1. Send an email to srjcauditions@gmail.com to request your appointment.

The Audition appointment email hotline will close at 4pm Friday, August 19If you email us after 4pm or you have not made an appointment by then, you are still welcome to attend as a Drop-in.*

2. Include the following information in your email:

  • Your name, phone number, and email address
  • Do you want to attend the Friday OR Saturday audition slot?

You should be able to get the day you want, but telling us both your first and second choice is helpful for us if you can come either day.

  • Will you be auditioning for both shows or only one show (title of show)?

If auditioning for both shows, we will schedule you for two time slots back-to-back on the same day. We will try to move you through the process as efficiently as possible.

  • Are there any special circumstances or accommodations that you may need?

3. Complete and attach a show-specific Registration Form with your email.

Open the file for the show you wish to audition below. SAVE the PDF file to your computer, and print both pages. Then fill in the form by hand and scan it (or take a picture of it). Attach that completed registration form to your email.

If auditioning for both shows, please complete and attach both forms. Auditioning for both shows is easy…and encouraged!

Important Details for In-Person Auditions
  • Follow these three steps when you arrive at SRJC:

    1. Parking is available in the Mendocino Ave ("Zumwalt") parking garage. This is the one place on campus where parking will be free during Auditions. (Please check this page for more info.)

    2. Check in with the Safety Monitor station under the white tent, located on the back side of the Studio Theatre (that’s the square concrete building to the left of the main Burbank Auditorium entrance).

    3. Go to Audition Registration in the Burbank Greenroom.  The entrance is located directly to the left behind the Safety Monitor.  (There will be signs to direct you.)

  • Proof of full COVID vaccination required – If you are not currently registered for classes at SRJC, please be prepared to show proof of full vaccination status when you check in with the Safety Monitor outside.

  • Masks are no longer required when indoors or in close proximity to others. They are optional.

  • Please arrive at least 15 minutes before your assigned audition time in order to check in with the Safety Monitor, register, attend a brief orientation, and travel to the audition space.  Allow an additional 15 minutes if you did not email your completed Registration Form(s) in advance; we will have extra copies to fill out should you need to do so.

Please help us stay on schedule by being on time.  If you have not checked in at least 10 minutes before your appointment, you may be moved to a time slot later in the audition session.

Restrooms will be available, as well as both inside and outside waiting areas.  Other than water bottles, we ask that there is no eating or drinking inside.

* Drop-Ins: Just follow the details above and come to Registration as early in the audition schedule as possible. We’ll confirm you for a time slot as soon as one is available; you might have to wait, but we’ll get you in.  If you do not have a completed registration form, we will have extra copies you can fill out at Registration.

HELPFUL AUDITION RESOURCES

What's a monologue?

A monologue is a speech from a play where one character speaks for an extended period of time to another character, themselves, or the audience. Actors are usually asked not to select a monologue from the play for which they are auditioning.

What if I don't have a prepared monologue?

No worries. If you don’t have a prepared monologue already, you may use one of the 'optional' monologues linked at the bottom of this page under "GENERAL AUDITION RESOURCES." , If you've never done this before OR found out about auditions at the last minute, do not worry about memorizing the monologue or reading the play the monologue is from (unless you want to). However, reading a bit about the play’s plot and characters online can help you prepare.
