  • THAR 24
    Intro to the Design Process

    with Coleen Scott Trivett

     

    TTH 10:00AM-12:30PM

    Students will be introduced to the collaborative process of theatrical design through hypothetical and/or actualized team projects. Projects focus on one or more design areas, including scenery, costume, lighting, sound, props, makeup and hair. The course covers all aspects of the design process, including script analysis, research methodology, conceptualization, collaboration and communication skills, as well as careers in theatrical design.

    Introduction to Theatre Management

    with Justin Smith

    Hours MW 10:30am-12:30pm   (+1 flexible hour per week)
    Offered once per year

    Introduction to the principles of management in the theatre, with an emphasis on practical stage management techniques, responsibilities, methods, tools, ethics and essential skills. Course work includes lectures, hands-on activities, computer-based assignments, and front-of-house management for one or more SRJC Theatre Arts productions.

    Introduction to Stagecraft

    with Justin Smith

    TTH 2:30PM-5:00PM (+1 hour per week)

    Ever wanted to know how theatre magic is created? Curious about how they build those great sets or achieve those cool lighting effects? Find out in this class filled with creative and practical skills used in the theatre. Methods, materials, and techniques of realizing the physical production on the stage, which include scenery, properties, lighting, and sound.

    This class requires a corequisite of THAR 25 or THAR 25.2, working with 1-2 live productions this fall. The 17.5 TBA hours will be met by working on productions in the scene shop.

    This section will meet in person in Burbank 122 Scene Shop.

    Introduction to Theatre Lighting

    TTH 2:30PM-5:00PM (+1 hour per week)

    This class is for students working on the 1-2 Fall productions in person. Mandatory orientation meeting for new and returning students will be held Wednesday 8/28 from 5:30-6:30pm in Room 161. Attendance required.

    This section requires evening and weekend hours and each class meeting (rehearsals and performances) will be in person, live in Burbank Auditorium. More details will be provided in the syllabus distributed by the instructor.
